Jenny Tarr is an artist and illustrator based on the south coast of England. Her expressive figurative work explores women, clothing and identity through bold line, colour and pattern.

Jenny is interested in the ways we use clothing to communicate something about ourselves - consciously or otherwise. Pattern, print and the shape of a garment become a visual language through which she explores personality, confidence, belonging and the ways women choose to take up space.

Working primarily through drawing and painting, Jenny's process is intuitive and deliberately loose. Figures are simplified and distorted; lines are allowed to wobble, overlap and remain visible. Rather than capturing an exact likeness, she is interested in capturing a feeling - a gesture, an attitude or something recognisable about the way a person inhabits themselves.

Jenny's practice moves between fine art and illustration, encompassing original works, commissions and live fashion illustration. Alongside her studio practice, she works with brands and organisations on editorial, event and collaborative projects.

She holds an MA in Illustration from Arts University Bournemouth and works from her studio and shop in Boscombe, Dorset.
